SUPPORT US

You may not wish to Become a Member,
but you are still interested in Supporting us.
There are several ways you can do this.

FUNDRAISING

FoVS is a community volunteer group supported by grant funding, but this can only be used for specific costs and projects, as laid out by the funder's terms & conditions.
Therefore we also rely on monetary donations, not just from our members, but the public as well.
We are a sub-group of The Penarth Civic Society, which is a registered charity c/n 1182348, so are able to raise funds, backed by them.

Ways you can contribute funds: Straight donation, attending a paid event we host / event where items for purchase are available (see below), or donating at that event.

If you wish to make a straight donation to us:
For cash donations you can directly hand them to our treasurer - Peter Blackburn, or place them in an available collecting tin at The Square (during volunteer hours only). If you wish to make a donation electronically, click the button above and complete the form to receive an email with instructions on how to do a direct bank transfer (note, this will go via the PCS), or Cheque.
Donations at Events
The means to donate cash will be made available, and cheques can be handed directly to one of our committee members.
Other ways to fund us:
We sometimes hold Plant Sales, and offer Produce from our Community Garden & member grown.
Monetary Donations in exchange for these items are welcome
Note while we are included in the Penarth Growing Community Seed & Plant Exchange*, any donations given to us are for us - though we / our members do sometimes share items with the PGC for them to fundraise with.

DONATIONS

Resources & Equipment

In addition to monetary donations, we also accept donations of useful resources & equipment. Things we could accept include:

  • Gardening Tools (Manual)

  • Gardening Tools (Electric) [1]

  • Plants (decorative & edible)

  • Seeds

BEFORE OFFERING TO DONATE:
Please check our WANTED PAGE for items we are currently looking for.
Alternatively Contact Us if you think an item may prove useful to us.

Items such as Plants & Seeds and Edible Produce can be offered for both our planting, or to be included as part of a plant sale/exchange or as part of our Community Sharing Table (details coming soon).

Should we not be able to take items for ourselves, we may recommend them for donation to other causes
[2], such as The Penarth Growing Community* (for plants & seeds) or Benthyg Penarth(for tools & equipment), and Penarth Tree Forum(for trees).

[1] Electrical tools must be battery powered only, and in a working condition.
[2] We may still be able to accept them on their behalf, or advise as to their suitability for these groups - please ask to speak to Dan Brown about this as he is our Cross-Community Liaison to & a representative for them.

Exploring Our Work

Come to The Square! / Come See What's There! / Is it a bear...? / or something to share...?

You could always Support Us by coming to Visit Us.
The whole aim of our group and the projects we have created is to make Victoria Square an accommodating, enjoyable place for members of The Community and visitors to Penarth.

Just taking a moment to tour this small section of Penarth parkland and viewing our ongoing work is something we will appreciate.

Promoting Us

You may not want to Get Involved, but you might know somebody who could. Or you might know somebody who'd appreciate our work, and would love to know more about it... and maybe even see it...
(and maybe you'd like to be the one to show it off to them)

Helping us to promote FoVS is a great way to Support Us, as it not only shows that our work is reaching the public in and around Penarth (and even beyond!), but is being responded to in a positive way.

Feel free to use this website as reference guide when passing on information about us to others. Check back reguarly for updates.

Don't forget we also have a Facebook Page, Instagram Account and YouTube Channel.
And of course you can often find our volunteers at The Square (especially on Saturdays), so you (and the people you're promoting us to) could always pop along for a chat about our work. Useful if you have any further questions.

MEDIA PROMOTIONS

If you are a journalist, Student Journalist or another type of publication representative and you are looking to promote our Group and our work for whatever reason, please Contact Us via our Contact Form and select Press Enquiry as the subject.

If you require photographic or other materials from us, or wish to generate your own please include this in your request. [1]

[1] Please note some content (e.g. photos) on our website and other social media may carry copyright accreditation to an individual, even if displayed through us. Please either check with us first or with the named individual before using in any external publication to our own.

Giving Us Feedback

If you have any comments or feedback, please either Contact Us via this website, comment on our Facebook Page or come and speak to one of our Committee Members. We're always open to responses about our work (even negative ones - so long as they are delivered politely and rationally!).

If we've held a public event we will also put out a Feedback Form. You will either find this at the bottom of that event's page (if it has a dedicated one) or on our Feedback Page. Note these forms will have a limited time for completion. Details included on the form.
